Create a profile on the carnet website
When you click on Create Profile on the left hand navigation, it will ask you read accept the terms and conditions of the website. You can then upload a CV and comple a profile which is visible on the site. All new profiles and CVs, and subsequent changes, are subject to moderation by your school. More info.
Upload my CV
You can upload your CV (.doc or .rtl or.pdf) directly to the site. When you click on this option, you can browse your PC directories to locate the right CV version.
Or you can choose to link it to an online CV somewhere else by typing in the URL. This is useful if you already have a good CV on a different site. The source site will need to be open access.
The moderator will check your link. If you have technical problems, please contact the helpdesk.
Change my details including password
You can change your username, your name as it appears on the website, under the Edit Details option on top left. This will also allow you to change your email address.
You can change your password under Change Password on top left.
Find vacancies
You can 'browse' all vacancies, they appear in order of date posted (latest ones first). Or you can search for a vacancy according to criteria, which can be useful if you are looking for projects, a specific sector or function, a geo region, etc. You can also serach by key word, or the unique number given to each vacancy. For example, you could send a colleague the id of a vacancy and they can immediately locate it through the search function.
Apply for a position posted on the website
Vacancies will have contact details for applications, and an indication of how they would like you to apply (by email, or through a website). You can apply direct, this is not moderated by the schools. If you need any help, please contact your school's career consultants.
Contact students at other schools
You can browse or search the student database and add profiles to your basket. You can email individual members from your basket of profiles.
Access my school's career pages for students
You should be able to see your school's private pages (and not those of other school's). Not all schools have developed these sections yet, but you should be able to see at least a holding page. If you can't, please email helpdesk.
